It is thought to be the most comprehensive casualty listing of its kind of Non World War South African / Rhodesian military and police deaths of its kind. The original Border War listing (of some 2000 names) as supplied to us was quite obviously taken from Mr. John Dovey's "Roll of Honour" website. We were unaware that this had been done. We would like to publicly apologize to Mr. Dovey for not crediting his work earlier for the time it was on our website without his permission. He has kindly allowed us to use the original material that he compiled so that we may be work together in creating a super database of Border War casualties. We currently do not know if this list is complete or where most of the casualties are buried. If you can assist us filling in the blanks we would like to know. If anyone has any extra details (Full names, Ranks, Dates of death, Cemetery where buried or photos, etc.) please do not hesitate to contact the Project Director Ralph McLean This listing is always a work in progress and depends increasingly on the families of the fallen and the veterans. ------------------------------- Sent to us by volunteer Peter S Chapman From SAAF news April 9 2006 - Wreckage of SAAF Cessna found The following was posted on SAAF News: On 25 November 1975 a Cessna piloted by Lt KA Williamson and 2 passengers Lt E Thompson SAAF and Captain D J Taljaard S A Army was shot down in the vicinity of Ebo in Angola. The wreckage of this plane has now been found. Hopefully the final resting place of these 3 members of the SADF will shortly be found and they can come home. -------------------------------- |
