Son of the late Col. James Ord and Mrs. J. C. Goldie, of 12, Tilbury Rd, Hove, Sussex. Born Jubbulpore, India. Educated Wellington College and Corpus Christi, Oxford. Assistant Master at St Andrew's College, Grahamstown, South Africa April, 1902-December, 1906. Got permission from Nizam of Hyderabad to take a commission. Attached to 32nd Lancers at Jubbulpore from whence he went to join the Imperial Service Cavalry
