Son of Henry Frederick and Nellie Johanna Currie, of Albany, Cape Province; husband of Charlotte M. Currie, of East Leigh, Nairobi, Kenya. Educated at St. Andrew's College, Grahamstown. Served in the Gcaleka War; in the Boer war as a Lieutenant in Nesbitt's Horse, he distinguished himself in the fighting in the Colesberg district in 1901 and was Mentioned in Despatches; was farming in British East Africa when WW1 broke out served in the Veterinary Corps near Nairobi (another source says he was an Intelligence officer) |
