Went to St. Andrew's College, Grahamstown from October 1897 to December 1899. In 1901 he joined Cape Peninsular Regiment and after the Boer War entered Civil Service in the Transvaal. Later became a Public Prosecutor at Boksburg. In 1914 he served in Rebellion of 1914 with Enslin's Horse and the campaign of SWA, where he was a trooper with the ILH, and East Africa (Staff Sgt. 1st Mtd. Bde.). He subsequently obtained a commission as a 2nd Lieut. in the KAR. |
