Son of William Henry and Fanny Maria Snow, of Westgate, Peterborough, England. Born Peterborough, Northants. Educated at the King's School, Peterborough, and the Barton School, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Entered Guy's Hospital Dental School, May 1908, and qualified L.D.S. in May 1910. A dental surgeon. Went to South Africa, and resided at 82, Du Toitspan Road, Kimberley. At the outbreak of war was attached, as senior Lieutenant, to the Kimberley Regiment. Afterwards he was transferred as Captain to the South African Medical Corps, going through the German West Africa campaign. Coming home in October, he was given a commission in the artillery.
