Son of Louis Henry and Sarah Ann Mason, of 565, Musgrave Rd., Durban, Natal, South Africa. Born Durban. Educated at Durban High School and Hilton College, Natal. A salesman. Served as a Private with the Durban Military Reserves in the Bambatha Rebellion 1906; Served in the Afrikaner Rebellion 1914; Served as a Trooper with the 3rd S.A. Mounted Rifles (NMR) in GSWA 1915; sailed overseas and re-enlisted with the 1st/ 9th Battalion London Regiment (Queen Victoria's Rifles). Commemorated on WWI Memorial-stained glass window (panel 2) in St Pancras Church, Camden Town, London as Overton-Mason
