Cause of Death:
Died in Aircraft Accident, sabotaged by the Ossewabrandwag, an opposition army that did not want South Africa to fight on the side of the British as they wanted to fight on the side of the Germans. They did a lot of harm. They blew up bridges and trains and any other trouble they could cause. They sawed partially through the petrol pipe of the plane Howard and his student flew in. As soon as they were airborne, the plane burst into flames, they were not high enough in the sky for the parachutes to open so they had to just jump. The young boy was too scared and refused to jump, so Howard had to put his arms around him and jumped. The pilot was fine and received no injuries. Howard, broke every bone in his body and was in hospital for a year
