Son of George Willis Harris and Anne Harris, of 53, Wimbledon Park Rd., Southfields, Wandsworth, London. Born London about 1874. He served with the 12th Middlesex V.B. between 1894 and 1900, the C.I.V. in South Africa in 1900 and 1901 and ending the Boer War while serving with the S.A. Light Horse. In 1912 he joined the Permanent Force (S.A.M.R.) and was posted to the Transvaal Heavy Artillery Battery with the Regimental No. 3022. Awarded Transvaal Horse Artillery Shooting medal engraved: "Revolver Cup : 1910-11 : Right Section A Battery : Sergt. A.E. Harris : 49" and cased small silver Transvaal Horse Artillery shooting medal rev. engraved "Morrison Cup : 1910 : Corpl A.E. Harris", Geo. V Coronation medal 1911 |
