Son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Worrall Francis, of "Mirembe," Church St., Wynberg, Cape Province. Joseph Worral Francis had been a carriage painter on the South African Railways before enlisting at Cape Town on 8 December 1915. He served with the 12th S.A. Infantry in German East Africa.
