Husband of Mary Dight, of 212 Grayling Street, Pietermaritzburg, Natal. Born Kent 1876. He attested for the 1st South African Infantry at Potchefstroom on 7 September 1915, his papers recording previous service with Brabant?s Horse, the Scottish Light Horse and the Natal Light Horse. Posted to Alexandria per Saxonia on 29 December 1915, he was transferred to France in April 1916
