Son of John and Elizabeth (nee Kane) Curtis, of 6, York St., Grahamstown, Cape Province, South Africa. Born Grahamstown. Educated St. Aidan's College, GHT - enrolled 1891. Served as a Trooper #23075 with Marshall's Horse (composed mainly of the mounted portions of the First City / Grahamstown Volunteers & the Uitenhage Rifle Volunteers) in the ABW 1899-1902. A charge attendant at Grahamstown mental hospital. His brother William Patrick Curtis died in the ABW 10/9/1901 & another brother James Vincent Curtis also died in WWI on 18/10/1916. Commemoration stone in Grahamstown Old Catholic Cemetery. |
