Killed in action, on the afternoon of the 8th July 1916, two companies of the 2nd S.A. Infantry relieved the 12th Royal Scots and the 6th K.O.S.B. in Bernafay Wood. On the 9th July, an additional company of the 2nd S.A.I. took over the S.E. corner of Bernafay Wood from a company of the 6th K.O.S.B.
