Cause of Death:
 Died of injuries, received while playing in the sea in March 1952, he injured his neck (fracture of vertebrae) when he was dumped by a large wave. He was given 115 days sick leave and then placed on light duty. He was admitted to hospital on 15 Oct 1952 as a result of complications and died of fat embolism, following an operation, at the Sanatorium Hospital, Durban.
