Missing, Presumed Killed in action. He was part of a patrol approx. four miles south of Kondoa Irangi, East Africa, that was attacked. When the area was later examined, two graves were noted, Lt Smith and Lehmkuihl. It was later discovered that Lemhkuihl was in hospital at the time and did not take part in the engagement. It was presumed that the grave was that of Van Wyk who could have been in possession of papers belonging to Lehmkuihl and was incorrectly identified. An exhumation was requested but no further info is available at this time |
