Member of the Royal Natal Yacht Club; a ship's broker with John T. Rennie & Sons, Durban. Served with Durban Light Infantry in German South West Africa 1914-1915. Commemorated on the Durban Cenotaph; the Durban High School; Radley College; St. Thomas' Anglican Church, Musgrave; St. Mary's Anglican Church, Greyville & the Durban Light Infantry WWI Memorials as well as on a special memorial plaque in St. Thomas' Anglican Church, Musgrave.
