Cause of Death:
 Died of wounds, received in front the Butte de Warlencourt. On the 12th October, the 2nd and 4th S.A.I. attacked Snag and Tail Trenches. The assault died away because of machine guns nests, placed well back in prepared positions, which caught the attacking waves at long range. The two battalions were relieved by the 3rd S.A.I. during the night of the 12th-13th October.

Son of Col. Thomas James Kelly (late 40th Regt. and Egyptian Police), and Rachel Mary Kelly, or 23, Denbigh Rd., Notting Hill, London. Born Born Dum Dum, Bengal, India 1 November 1876. Served as a Lieutenant with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Irish Fusiliers (Princess Victoria's) in the ABW 1899-1902. He served with the Durban Light Infantry in GSWA 1914-1915. He fought at Delville Wood in July 1916. Recommended for a Mention in Despatches for his conduct at Delville Wood in July 1916 (not awarded).
