DSO LG Sup 25 August 1916 pg. 8454 - "For conspicuous courage and ability in organising the defence of front line trenches, and by personla exampe and total disregard of danger securing good work under heavy fire. He was instrumental in bringing in eighty wounded from exposed positions"; 1st bar LG Sup 4 October 1919 pg. 12215 - "For conspicuous gallantry and able leadership in command of his battalion in the attack on Regnicourt on 17 October 1918. During the advance he organised and carried out an attack on a strongly defended locality, which had been passed by the leading waves of the attack on account of thick fog, and from which machine guns were firing into the backs of our advancing troops. By his prompt action the locality was captured, with upwards of 120 prisoners and twenty machine guns."
