Husband of Shirley (nee McLeod) Churchill. Corsair Pilot, 1833NAS, FAA, HMS Illustrious, British Pacific Fleet. He was a New Zealander from Rongotea. Attended Palmerston North Boys' High School. In January 1941 left New Zealand for Britain for pilot training in the Fleet Air Arm. Served with the NAS 890 initially. Known as as Winnie. While training in Wingfield, Cape Town, he met and married Miss Shirley McLeod, daughter of Major and Mrs McLeod, of Wynberg, Cape Town. They had a son also named Hugh Adrian Churchill. Adrian never got to meet his son. Shirley died in 1967, and their son Hugh passed away in 2007.
