Cause of Death:
Died in Aircraft Accident, Westland Wasp #83, air crash. SAS President Steyn was in Luanda on a courtesy call while on a return trip from France for the acceptance of the submarine SAS Emily Hobhouse. The onboard helicopter had just undergone a main rotor change and crashed while on a test flight to Luanda Airport.
