Son of Christopher John Sweeney, of East London. Attended Boys High School Malmesbury 1905. His father Christopher John Sweeney arrived in Umtata, from Kokstad, in Sept 1892 and became Resident Magistrate. Magistrate in Malmesbury for 10 years.
