LG Sup 5 Aug 1915 DCM - "For conspicuous gallantry on the 17th May, 1915, at Festubert, in assisting his Company Officer to lead the Company to attack after the original Company Officers had fallen, and the men had become somewhat demoralized by being driven back by very heavy shell fire.
