Killed in action, Baltimore III #AH109, took off 0846 hrs LG 86 (Egypt) one of twelve Baltimore's of 55 Squadron and five B-25s of 434 Squadron USAAF detailed to attack enemy motor transport at PP866.303 El Daba. Hit over the target by heavy and accurate flak, the aircraft crashed in flames at 0901 hrs, 16 km SE of El Daba. Lt Simpson was the Senior Intelligence Officer of No.232 Group
