Killed in action, Hampden I AT115, taking off at 16:20 hrs from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire to join 180 others to bomb Hamburg. Weather conditions were described as a three quarter full moon with excellent visibility. 13 aircraft were lost on this operation - 7 were claimed by flak units.
