Son of Herbert John and Eleanor Kebble; husband of Gwendoline Thora Kebble. Native of South Africa. Born Johannesburg. Educated Boksburg High School; Ex-cadet of the South African Training Ship General Botha. Cadet Draft 1926-7. In 1928 joined the elder Dempster Line as an Apprentice and reamined at sea until 1933, when he left to take up a position with the Mines in the transvaal. At the beginning of the war he enlisted in the Rand Light Infantry and was later transferred to the SAEC and promoted to Sergeant. In January 1941 he was seconded to the RNR and served as Sub-Lieutenant in an anti-submarine flotilla. Sub-Lieutenant Kebble was transferred to HMS Gloucester in April 1941 and on 23 May 1941 was reported missing when the ship was lost through enemy action.
