LG Sup 5 July 1918 pg 7887 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Before reaching the final objective, which his company had been detailed to capture, his company commander becoming a casualty, he immediately organised a party, consisting of an N.C.O. and twelve men, and in the face of extremely heavy machine gun and rifle grenade fire and point blank fire from an enemy field gun rushed the position and captured the gun. Though wounded, he showed great courage and determination, and the successful capture of the final objective was entirely due to his fine leadership and quick initiative." |
