Died of injuries, received in an explosion at the Barracks of the Youth Training Brigade at Roberts Heights. Three members were using a bayonet and a screwdriver in an attempt to dismantle a two inch mortar shell that they found in rubble from the explosion of the Grand Magazine, which was being used for earth works at Roberts Heights
