Information:
Son of John Augustus Samuel and Hilda Janet Aylward, of Grahamstown, Cape Province, South Africa. Native of Southern Rhodesia. On Plumtree School Roll of Honour. Entered Gaul House in January, 1937. In December, 1940, he passed his Cambridge School Certificate, obtaining eight credits. After sitting his Beit Bursary examination in 1941, he went to Rhodes University College to take up law. He attested in January, 1943, received preliminary training in Rhodesia, and proceeded to the Middle East in November of the same year.
