Information:
Son of Edmund Lionel and Susan Renee Gay-Roberts. Educated at St. Peter’s School, Exmouth, Devon, and later at King Edward VII School at Johannesburg where he matriculated in December, 1932. In the following spring he was engaged as a learner sampler and subsequently as assistant surveyor on the Cam and Motor Mine. In December, 1935, he was appointed chief surveyor of the Sherwood Starr Mine, and afterwards became manager of the Muriel Mine. At the time of his death he was assistant consulting engineer to the London and Rhodesian Mining and Land Co. Admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1936.
