Marguerite Muriel Erskine Erskine (sic) was born at 5am on 13th June 1879 at 21 Main Street, St Andrew's District, Edinburgh, Scotland, the daughter of William Charles Chitty Erskine, Captain of the Lanark Militia and his wife Lowisa (Louisa) Christy Erskine (maiden surname Gerrard). (GRO Scotland, Statutory Births, 685/02 0693). William and Louisa married at All Saints Church, St Marylebone, London, England, on August 10th 1864. William was "India and in the army esquire" and the son of John Erskine, Captain in the army. Louisa was the daughter of the late Colonel John Grant Gerrard. (parish register).
