Son of Dr. and Mrs. Allan Boardman Taylor. Brother of Mrs. James Elliott, of 4115 Broaddus Street, El Paso, Taxas. Born Durban. Enlisted at Auburndale, Massachusetts, USA; served with Company H, 3rd Battalion; trained at Parris Island, South Carolina & Camp Le Jeune, North Carolina. Alan was an American boy who at attended Kearsney College in the 1940s. His father was a medical doctor who had been posted to McCord Hospital in Durban. On the completion of his schooling, he returned to America where he enrolled at a University in California. He was awarded Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Korean Service Medal, National Defence Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Korea War Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal and Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal
