Enrolled as Trooper in Colonial Scouts (Natal) 28th November 1899; discharged on disbandment of Corps, 19th March 1900; enrolled as Trooper in Natal Carbineers 24th March 1900, Queen's medal (two bars); saw service with Colonial Scouts in Zululand Rebellion 1906; gazetted to 1st Cape Corps 1st August 1916, rank Captain, later reverted to Lieutenant at his own request to correct a Staff blunder. An international Cricketer, represented Natal and the Transvaal in many local matches and South Africa in international contests. Born on February 5, 1882
