Cause of Death: |
Died in bombings on the city of Chateauroux. Allied Prisoners of War were settled in the German aerodrome of La Martinerie (nearby Chateauroux). This airfield was bombed by 8th Air Force on 5 February 1944. Although this air raid mission was successful, POWs suffered 15 wounded and 4 dead. Among these casualties were 8 South African prisoners (Vikwane died two days after, on 7 February 1944). |
