LG Sup 21 October 1941 pg. 6088 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Hobok on 2 February 1941 when this NCO displayed great determination, courage and initiative in working his section of Armoured Cars round the flanks of the enemy under heavy fire, and regardless of personal danger. His action in doing so caused the enemy to disclose their dispositions on that flank, and enabled our attack to be made successfully there."
