Cause of Death:
De La Salle SS was a French Cargo Steamer of 8,400 tons built in 1921. On the 9th July 1943 when on route from LIVERPOOL & FREETOWN for WALVIS BAY & EAST LONDON carrying a cargo of 1,340 tons commercial, & 763 tons government stores she was torpedoed by German submarine U-508 and sunk. 10 persons lost from a total of 249.
