Cause of Death: |
Accidentally killed, by the explosion of a German stick grenade. While with his fellow Driver J Webster around mid day on the 14th of June 1919. He was leading two drought horses from a wagon when one horse stepped on a German grenade, detonating it. Webster laid his friend down next to one of their wagons "10 yards from the railway where it crosses the Neureuil-Fresnes track". Webster raced off to find aid, but Trompetter died alone, very shortly after Webster's departure. |
