Information:
Son of Philip Methley and Myrtle Matilda Symons, of Durban, Natal, South Africa. Born in Howick, Natal on the 14th September 1913. Educated at Dundee Intermediate School. In 1931 he joined SARSHIPS as AB, but in 1933 he left the sea to take up farming. At the outbreak of WW2 he joined the SANF and was serving in HMS Gloucester when she was sunk off Crete. Ex-Cadet of the South African Training Ship General Botha.
