Cause of Death:
Killed in action, in Lancaster I W4176, took off from R.A.F. Waddington, Lincolnshire at 17.54 hrs to lay mines in the 'Daffodils' area. It was part of a 73 Lancaster force to drop mines off the Danish and German coastline when it is understood was intercepted and shot down in the target area at around 2.500 mtrs 'probably' by Maj. Gunther Radusch of II./NJG3 at 21.10 hrs. The aircraft is thought to have come down in the North Sea west of Sylt, Denmark

Son of Leonard and Nancy Shattock. He was born on September 19th, 1921, and entered, Gaul House in January 1935. After passing his Cambridge Certificate in December 1939, he started farming in the Banket District. He attested in the Air Force in September 1940, received preliminary training in Southern Rhodesia, and proceeded overseas in June 1941. On Plumtree School Roll of Honour.
