Died of wounds, near Greve, Tuscany. He was Platoon Commander, No 3 Pl, B Coy and during the advance toward Greve, the platoon came under heavy shellfire and withdrew to a nearby house. At approx 11 am the house received 3 direct hits from hostile shelling, wounding Lt Samson. He later died of his wounds
