Killed in action, in Hurricane IIB BG812, spun into ground at Barasat. Aircraft had disintegrated - Lt Rowe took off at 1505 hours to do local cloud flying and did not return. Parts of unknown aircraft found near Barasat at about 2100 hours around a big hole in the ground. Aircraft disintegrated and evidence suggests that it spun in at high speed. Finally identified as Rowe's based on some gun parts. Pilot reported as missing believed killed. No significant remains. Confirmed as killed on 12.3.43. some remains recovered |
