LG Sup 31 December 1942 pg. 5667 - "Attack on Sanyet El Miteiriya Ridge, 23/24 October 1942. Throughout this action Sgt. Rose showed extreme courage and devotion to duty. At one stage, when the rest of his company had temporarily withdrawn, Sgt. Rose showed complete disregard for his own safety by going forward to bring out from the artillery barrage, with the assistance of 1249 Cpl. Parmenter R H, 106743 Pte. Jankowitz D C, who was badly wounded. On the resumption of the attack, under heavy enemy automatic and mortar fire, he led an assault on a machine-gun post and destroyed it." |
