LG Sup 25 August 1917 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At a critical moment, when three gun teams, had been practically annihilated by shell fire, he restored confidence by his coolness and courage, enabling the battery to open fire at zero in perfect order. He afterwards opened fire upon the enemy and compelled them to retire at a time when our infantry were falling back before superior numbers. For two days he so inspired his men that they were at all times collected and ready to open fire." |
