Died of wounds, wounded while on patrol near Castel Barroli on the evening of the 14th September, shot through the stomach and bladder. He was reported missing, suspected POW but had been captured by the Germans and admitted to the main casualty station of 1/362 Corps at Lizzano where he died on 17th September at 0200 hrs. He initially was buried in the Heros' Acre at Lizzano, grave No 20. |

Son of Jacob Daniel Theunis and Johanna C. Otto, of Gansbaai, Cape Province. Husband of Mrs. Cornelia Elizabeth Otto (nee Do Toit), of "Dreyersdal", P.O. Retreat. Born in Gansbaai. A handyman. His two brothers also died in service. |
