Killed in action, Stirling BF353, Target Essen. 369 aircraft, 39 losses. Bombing was scattered but this was a successful raid on a difficult target. Considerable damage sustained at the strategic Krupps works and bombs also fell in neighbouring Wuppertal and Bochum, crashed in the Ijsselmeer, 10 km NW of Harderwijk |
