Cause of Death:
Killed in action, the 189th Brigade of the 63rd (Royal Naval Division) attacked Puisieux Trench in the Ancre Valley. From the British Official History, this operation was "one of the hardest-fought and most confused of the secondary actions". The action was costly. The casualties of the Brigade amounted to 24 officers and 647 men.
