Killed in action, at Delville Wood. As reported by Sgt Jack Naisby (3rd Bn D Coy) who later wrote from the London General Hospital: "Private Charles Nesbitt of the SA Scottish was the first man I saw killed in Delville Wood on July 16 and I buried him myself. I took his personal effects. He was an orderly attached to HQ and had just left our officers when he was killed about forty yards from our lines." |
