Cause of Death:
Killed in action, at Delville Wood. As reported by Sgt Jack Naisby (3rd Bn D Coy) who later wrote from the London General Hospital: "Private Charles Nesbitt of the SA Scottish was the first man I saw killed in Delville Wood on July 16 and I buried him myself. I took his personal effects. He was an orderly attached to HQ and had just left our officers when he was killed about forty yards from our lines."

Son of Charles Warren Nesbitt DSO and Jacoba Margaret Nesbitt, of Mafeteng, Basutoland, South Africa. Also served with Brand's Horse in German South West Africa. A bank clerk.
