Archibald also worked as a farm labourer and at the time of the 1891 census he was working at Rawyards Farm, Monklands. He left for South Africa around 1903. His next of kin is listed as Mrs Margaret Morrison who is his sister who also went out to live in South Africa. Commemorated on Kingarth War Memorial, and the 292 Masonic Lodge War memorial, Rothesay, Isle of Bute
