Son of Arthur and Anne McCabe, of East London, and King William's Town, Cape Colony, South Africa. Born Johannesburg. Altar boy at St. Paul's Church, Durban. A junior clerk with the SAR&H. Educated at Glenwood Technical College, Durban. Commemorated on WWI Memorial, St. Mary's Anglican Church, Greyville, Durban - Panel 3 and on WWI Memorial in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Durban. The congregation made the decision to install a stained glass window in the Lady Chapel to honour Archie Lee and Basil McCabe. The images of the two boy scouts are based on actual photos of the boys
