LG Sup 20 October 1916 pg. 10187 - "For conspicuous gallantry in action. When all his senior officers had become casualties, he rallied his men and led them in two fresh attempts to capture the enemy's trench. Finally, he carried his company serjeant-major, who was severely wounded, back to safety. He set a fine example throughout the day." |
