LG Sup 6 April 1918 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He took command of his company when his company commander was killed at the beginning of the attack, and led it with skill and judgement. On reaching his objective he sent in accurate reports of the enemy's movements, and enabled the artillery to break up three attempts at a counter-attack. His coolness and courage had a splendid effect on all ranks."
