Cause of Death:
Killed in action, by enemy shell fire, on Gravenstafel Ridge, near Ypres. Owing to the fact that the whole division retired on the following day, to a position near Ypres, and that the enemy occupied the ground where he was killed, his body could not be recovered for burial.
